Fabarm L4S Allsport RS 12ga Semi-Auto Shotgun Review
Feb 06, 2025
Today, we're teaming up with fellow exhibition shooter and good buddy Travis Mears to review the Fabarm L4S Allsport RS. With Travis' competitive experience and extensive knowledge of Fabarm Shotguns, you're in for a treat. Let's go!
If you have experience with Fabarm shotguns, please let us know your thoughts on the TFL COMMUNITY!
This Fabarm review was done at Greystone Castle in Mingus, Texas. Greystone was an awesome experience, but we'll share more on that in a future video.
Be sure to check out the Travis Mears YouTube channel as well!

- Drop at comb is 1 3/4". This shotgun comes with shims.

Ergonomics
- Fabarm always seems to shine in the ergonomic category. This Allsport feels excellent in the hands overall.
- Being that this is a gas shotgun, the forend feels a bit beefy as all the gas components are housed within it. This forend has no contours on grip inlays. This will make the shotgun very usable for shooters of all styles.
- The pistol grip and forend have very nice checkering for a consistent grip.
- This right-handed model has a right-handed palm swell.
- Fabarm shotguns look very nice. A lot of thought and detail has been put into the looks and ergonomics of this Allsport. This Is apparent in the design of the receiver, which sports a diversity of textures. This is a very modern-looking shotgun.
- The controls are oversized and work very well. The controls and forend cap match the blue color of the RS logo.
- Note that the bolt release is on the left side of the receiver. This takes a bit to get used to, but when you do it is very easy to use. We love this design.
- This shotgun has a removable rib (to change POI for different disciplines). It comes with a 50/50 rib and a 65/35. The sight plane of the rib is extended rearward a bit as the receiver has a ramp on the top of it that butts up to the back of the rib. Switching ribs is as simple as popping a pin (which can be done with the included choke tube wrench).
- There is a simple white bead on the front and a small mid-bead.
- We love the ergonomics of this Allsport RS.
-
Recoil and Reliability
- Since this is a target gun, you're limited to 2 3/4" shells. This shotgun handles recoil very well.
- Sometimes, shotguns can experience cycling issues with light target loads. This gas system is specifically tuned to handle such target loads. The Allsport pumps out shells effortlessly.
- When you shoot this shotgun, the fast cycle speed of this L4S becomes very apparent. You can just tell I am very excited to shoot this shotgun more.
- While this shotgun handles recoil well, it could be reduced even more with a FalconStrike.
-
Breakdown/Quality of Build
- Gas shotguns come with many more internal parts than your inertia shotguns. Therefore, disassembly is a but more complicated - A small price to pay for the speed and reliability of this Allsport RS gas system.
- The barrel nut under the forend holds the tension of the barrel and gas components. This is a huge upside for build quality as the barrel nut relieves the wood forend of taking the pressure of an external forend cap (as seen in many other gas shotguns). In the case of the Allsport RS, the forend cap is only responsible for holding the forend in place.
- The trigger group comes out using a two-pin system.
- The internals of this shotgun were very nice. The metal is polished and, most importantly, cleaned up very easily with a simple rag.
- It's also important to note that no plastic is used for the internals of this shotgun. Very high quality.
- The rib ramp on the receiver has an extrusion that sits inside of the barrel's rib to ensure that the alignment is proper. The receiver has a similar tongue-and-groove cut design for the forend to sit in.
- The prior mentioned choke screw/multi-tool has a pin on it to assist in that last couple of twists of the forend cap. This ensures it stays tight.

Shooting The Allsport RS
- To round out the video, we had to shoot on the excellent five stand at Greystone Castle. Travis and I took turns shooting some "true triples" (three birds in the air at one time) to test this shotgun's recoil, reliability, ergonomics, and speed.
- We highly enjoyed the overall function of this versatile shotgun. Through a variety of target presentations, it was very apparent that this guns well thought out design was well worth it. It pointed naturally, cycled with no issue, and mitigated recoil with ease.
- To truly test the cycle speed of this shotgun, we loaded three shots and took turns attempting to shoot it as fast as possible while recording the time between shots.
- Travis was able to shoot the fast split time of .14 seconds. Steve was able to get the fastest overall time of .49 seconds for all three shots. It should go without saying, but our hypothesis that this would be a blazing-fast shotgun held true.
In conclusion, there is a lot to like about this Fabarm Allsport. Ergonomically, it's one of the better shotguns we've seen in a while. What hits it home with the L4S is the quality of the build. Fabarm makes a great product that they stand behind. Fabarm/Caesar Guerini offers a "Pit Stop" program where you can get your gun serviced right at the shoot if you're a serious shooter who attends some bigger shoots. This is huge for serious competitors like Travis. You can feel the attention to detail when you shoot this shotgun. We highly recommend checking out the L4S Allsport RS if you are in the market for a versatile clay gun. You get a lot of shotgun for the money with the Fabarm L4S Allsport RS.
