We're excited to get our hands on the Viper G2 Pro model and put it through its paces! Tristar claims that the Viper G2 Pro can reliably cycle a wide range of loads efficiently.. Tristar Viper G2 Pro:
The TriStar Viper G2 Pro is the latest addition to their shotgun lineup, featuring several upgrades from its predecessor, the Viper G2. We received the Bronze Premium version for review, which has an MSRP of $990, while other variations, like the silver and camo models, offer more affordable options, starting at $855
- At the time of this review, the MSRP of this Bronze Premium Viper G2 Pro was $990, but you probably can get one from REEDS SPORTS for less than that. It is currently less than $400
- There are a couple of other options available such as the Silver, Terra Bayou camo, and Snow Camo

TRIGGER
- Our first impression of this trigger was that it was crisp and felt good. Curious to see how this treats us during speed shooting
- Trigger pull averaged at 6lbs 3.2oz.

- Oversized bolt handle and bolt release for easy manipulation
- Triangular safety is conveniently positioned at the back of the trigger group
- Milled loading port for smoother and quicker loading
- Synthetic furniture with over-molded rubber grips on some models
- Adjustable drop and cast with included shim kit (Length of pull also adjustable)
- Proprietary stock, limiting third-party replacements
- Optics-ready receiver
- Gloss finish on the barrel, Cerakoted receiver
RECOIL/RELIABILITY
- Impressive recoil management and balance, especially with lighter target loads
- Handles a wide range of loads, from light target loads to heavy waterfowl loads
- Cycles smoothly with various loads, exhibiting good reliability
- Slight issue with cycling from over the head position (but not a major concern)

BREAKDOWN/QUALITY OF BUILD
- Gas-operated design with a relatively standard layout
- Bolt, slide, piston, and trigger components are well-designed and straightforward
- Bolt and slide integrated for easy assembly
- Tight tolerances result in a solid build
- Cleaning and reassembly might be a bit challenging initially due to the tight fit
SPEED SHOOTING THE POINTER FIELD TEK 4
- Speed shooting performance varied, with good splits ranging from .16 to .20 seconds
- Controls, recoil, and overall feel are natural and intuitive for rapid shooting
- We know you won't be shooting this gun for the purpose of shooting super fast. The general feel of this gun for standard shooting was very good and natural. It points smoothly.
The TriStar Viper G2 Pro is a solid shotgun with commendable features and performance. Its reliability, manageable recoil, and ergonomic design make it a viable option, especially for those on a budget. While there are a few minor nitpicks, the Viper G2 Pro proves to be a worthy contender for those seeking a reliable and affordable shotgun.
